In the early 1970’s Moussa made his way from Mali to his mother’s country Denmark. He soon established himself as one of Denmark's highest profiled bass players, performing and recording alongside many leading rock, pop, soul and jazz artists.

​After having been part of the Danish music industry for many years Moussa began to reconnect with his African roots, today he still performs around the world with music drawing obvious lines to his African heritage, with a combination of African and European instruments.

Moussa Diallo has released over 10 solo albums and has also written music and books for children.


Moussa has received several awards:


2003 - Danish Music Award for best album (Chiwara)

2006 - Moussa Diallo was honoured the Ken Gudman Award. The award is given to a Danish musician who has made a remarkable contribution to the Danish music scene.

2008 - Go Global World Music Award

2011 - Danish Music Award - "Best World Track of the year"

2018 - DJBFA Hædersprisen

2019 - Danish Music Award in the category "World musician/singer of the year"


During the past 15 years, his main focus has been providing high-quality entertainment for children. Storytelling and African music are melted together into a warming experience for children. His performances in Scandinavia and other European countries - also including Asia and Africa - has moved thousands of children and adults. See more in the "FOR KIDS" section.

During the previous years, Moussa has also been in high demand as an independent consultant. He has worked with 'the Danish Centre for Culture and Development' and Danish embassies on many projects in Mali, Zanzibar, Tanzania and Mozambique etc.

Currently, Moussa is touring with the music he wrote for the animated film by Jannik Hastrup "Circleen, Coco & the Wild Rhino". With this project, Moussa has an upcoming tour in China, Denmark and Sweden. He also has a series of children books with African stories and music coming out soon!
